State of Texas GED Eligibility Requirements
Eligibility for GED testing is established by the Texas Education Code, Section 7.111, which states that a resident of the state of Texas who has not graduated from high school is eligible to take the high school equivalency test in accordance with rules promulgated by the state Board of Education.
To take the GED tests, a GED applicant must:
Have a government issued photo ID;
1. Be 18 years of age;
2. Be a resident of the state;
3. Not be enrolled in school; and
4. Not be a high school graduate.

If you are not 18 years old you can take the GED test at age 17, if:
1. You are a resident of Texas
2. You are not enrolled in school (you are excepted if you are enrolled in an approved in-school
3. GED preparation program);
4. You are not a high school graduate; and
5. You must have parental/guardian permission.

If you are not 17 years old you can take the GED test at age 16 if:
1. The GED applicant is a resident of the state of Texas
2. In the care of a state agency or under a court order
or in a Job Corps training program;
3. Is not enrolled in high school; and
4. Is not a high school graduate.

Release Scores to Test Center
If you wish for your Testing Center to view you scores on the GED® System, please fill out and fax the
GED® Release Scores Request found here.

The following information is needed to locate a record:
1. The candidate's complete name (also include maiden name if applicable);
2. The candidate's Social Security Number (SSN);
3. The candidate's date of birth;
4. The name of the TEXAS testing center where tests were administered; and
5. The address where the record is to be mailed 

IF YOU NEED YOUR RECORDS FOR:
1. Non-State/Union jobs (jobs that are not state jobs or union jobs)
2. Verification of certificate (to prove that you have passed and received a GED® Certificate)
3. Viewing your test scores
4. Unofficial records (A state seal will NOT be included)
With examinees signature Social Security Number and test scores can be included.
