New York State Age Eligibility Requirements GED
1. If you are 16 years of age on day of testing 2. If you are 17 or 18 years of age on day of testing 3. If you are 19 years or older on day of testing
All 16, 17 or 18 year olds must establish age eligibility each time they wish to test New York State Residency Requirements The GED Tests can be administered to any person who has lived in New York State for at least thirty (30) days prior to the test date AND
a) Has not graduated from an accredited high school in the United States or its territories; AND b) Has not received a high school equivalency certificate or diploma in the United States or its territories; AND c) Is not currently enrolled in a regular high school program of instruction leading to a high school diploma; AND d) Has not previously earned scores on the GED Tests sufficient to qualify for a high school equivalency diploma/certificate.
Verify GED Status Over the Phone The staff of the GED Testing Office is available Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm to assist callers with questions on a wide range of issues pertaining to GED Test administration in New York State, test policies and procedures, and any of the functions of the GED Testing Office. Please call the GED Hotline at (518) 474-5906 to speak with a customer service representative.
Additionally, information concerning candidate status may be verified automatically on the GED Hotline if the candidate's Social Security number and birth date are provided. This can be helpful when there is a need for instant verification of information, but No Scores are Ever Given Over the Phone.
Taking the GED Tests in Spanish (Los Examines del GED en Espanol) Los exámenes del GED son ofrecidos en inglés, francés y en español en el Estado de Nueva York. Si usted desea tomar los exámenes del GED, es necesario que haga lo siguiente:
1. Llene toda la información en "La Solicitud Para Tomar el GED". Attachment A – Application PDF (35KB) 2. Escoja un centro de evaluación y la/s fecha(s) para tomar los exámenes del GED. Usted puede encontrar el horario de los exámenes en GED Test Schedule. Si prefiere tomar los exámenes del GED en español: a) Escriba el nombre de uno de los siguientes centros en su solicitud (Attachment A – artÃculo 18): The Manhattan School, Queens EOC or the College of Staten Island. b) Luego escoja las fechas (Attachment A – artÃculo 19) en que usted quiere tomar los exámenes. c) Si es menor de 19 años de edad, debe escoger una de las categorÃas en el artÃculo 22 (Attachment A).
